Job Description:

Our fast-growing nonprofit needs a mission-driven and creative individual to join our small but mighty team. The Marketing and Communications Manager will be responsible for strategizing, designing and executing AIR’s marketing and communication initiatives, including website, social media, quarterly newsletter, public relations, fundraising materials and event support.

This is an exciting role with a broad span of control for someone looking for a unique opportunity to work remotely for a growing, highly collaborative organization. We are looking for someone who is creative, innovative, and oriented toward learning new skills and new concepts. The successful candidate will have excellent writing and communication skills, ability to design and lead new projects, and a preference for a fast-paced and evolving environment.


Key Responsibilities:

Define and execute overall marketing and communications strategy to build the brand for AIR and enhance the impact of AIR’s projects.

Website Strategy, Design, Execution, and Maintenance

● Oversee and execute content updates and minor design changes

● Act as liaison between AIR and vendors

● Establish and drive appropriate metrics

● Analyze and report on key metrics


Social Media

● Create content across social media channels (LinkedIn, Twitter)

● Develop and maintain content calendar

● Design basic graphics for social media promotion

● Establish and drive appropriate metrics

● Analyze and report on key metrics


Communications Strategy and Execution

● Develop and maintain content calendar for external communications

● Create and distribute quarterly company newsletter, email communications, event invitations, and fundraising materials

● Work with Mailchimp and SurveyMonkey

● Maintain and update company distribution/email lists

● Establish and drive appropriate metrics

● Analyze and report on key metrics

● Provide writing and editing support as needed


Public Relations

● Market and promote AIR’s projects, programs, and public events, in close partnership with team members, including formal press release distribution, article development and targeted press pitches

● Cultivate and manage successful relationships with key journalists, partners, vendors and other stakeholders

● Secure placements in national media outlets

● Track press coverage

● Provide writing and editing support as needed


Requirements and Qualifications:

● Bachelor's degree or similar in public relations, communications, journalism, or related field preferred

● Ideally 3-5 years experience working in a fast-paced environment

● Superb writing skills, able to convey complex material clearly to a general audience and to write with fresh and compelling language

● Creative flare and strong eye for design and brand building

● Excellent interpersonal communication skills and desire to work in a highly collegial environment internally and externally

● Exceptional attention to detail

● Utmost professionalism and discretion while communicating with external and internal parties

● Collaborative spirit and enthusiasm to jump in and get the job done

● Ability to thrive under pressure in a very fast-paced environment

● Experience with website design platforms and digital marketing tools preferred (including WordPress, Squarespace, Canva, Mailchimp, SurveyMonkey)

● Strong working knowledge of organizational and technical tools (Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, Adobe)

● Familiarity with social media platforms and growth strategies

● Ability to be highly productive in a work-from-home environment

● Experience in financial services, technology or regulatory sector is a plus
