Our fast-growing nonprofit needs a mission-driven subject matter expert to lead our work in the cryptocurrency space.
We believe there is huge upside potential in leveraging crypto/defi/web3 for financial inclusion and to combat financial crime. We want to explore both the positive opportunities in crypto and also the associated risks. Our key issues are financial inclusion, investor protection, other consumer protection, climate impacts, crime, CBDC, and interrelationships with traditional financial markets, structures, legal and regulatory frameworks, and ownership models. Specific topics include trends and issues relating to NFTs, DAOs, DeFi, Web3, metaverse, and climate impacts of crypto mining. Our scope includes both US and global developments, with emphasis on opportunities and risks for disadvantaged consumers and for emerging markets.
This role will lead AIR’s co-sponsorship of the Crypto Climate Accord, a private sector-led initiative for the crypto community focused on decarbonizing the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry. It also includes shaping the content and participants for AIR’s TechSprints, including one on how to reduce the carbon footprint of crypto mining. We’re looking for someone who understands the crypto landscape, players, and new developments. They will work with us on policy issues, writing projects like articles and whitepapers, speaking at and participating in conferences, and organizing crypto-related events.
⏵ Lead AIR’s co-sponsorship of the Crypto Climate Accord. This involves helping craft strategy, interacting with member firms, expanding membership, explaining/promoting the CCA to relevant stakeholders and media, convening briefings and writing reports on progress and key issues
⏵ Help lead TechSprints, including a 2022 sprint on how to reduce the carbon footprint of crypto mining
⏵ Help shape roundtables and events, advising on topics, speakers and participants
⏵ Represent AIR at conferences and policy discussions on crypto issues
⏵ Keep AIR’s team abreast of the fast-moving crypto sector
⏵ Help shape AIR’s positions on crypto policy issues and work on an engagement strategy on those policy issues
⏵ Candidates must understand crypto landscape, players, and new developments
⏵ Superb writing skills, able to convey complex material clearly to a general audience and to write with fresh and compelling language
⏵ Strong oral communication skills in public speaking and interacting with ecosystem
⏵ Collaborative spirit and enthusiasm to jump in and get the job done
⏵ Ability to thrive under pressure in a very fast-paced environment
⏵ Ability to be highly productive in a work-from-home environment
⏵ Experience in financial services, technology or regulatory sector is a plus
